SAIL Retreat 2024: Intensive dialogue and strategic planning

On 18 and 19 November 2024, the members of the SAIL network met in Bad Sassendorf for the annual SAIL Retreat. The aim of the meeting was to deepen the exchange on the PhD projects, to evaluate the project status and to further develop the strategic direction of SAIL. Two days of intensive scientific exchange, exciting presentations and a joint social programme strengthened interdisciplinary collaboration and team spirit.

This year, the PhD student presentations were spread over two days, allowing more time for discussion and personal interaction. In particular, the archery team activity provided a welcome opportunity to socialise in a relaxed atmosphere away from the scientific discussions.

The representatives of the Universities of Bielefeld and Paderborn, the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld (HSBI) and the Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) used the meeting to evaluate the progress of the project and to set further goals and plans for the remainder of the project.

The two days of the retreat were very enriching for everyone involved and provided a positive outlook for future collaboration. The project participants are convinced that face-to-face meetings are very valuable for the network in order to increase the dynamics of the research projects.
