SAIL Spring School 2025: Innovating AI Evaluation – Beyond Accuracy and Precision

That’s a wrap! The SAIL Spring School 2025 at Bielefeld University was an inspiring event, bringing together young researchers to explore AI evaluation beyond accuracy and precision. From March 26–28, doctoral students had the opportunity to engage with leading experts and learn about state-of-the-art research. Topics covered were:

➡️ State Space Models
➡️AI in Education in the Age of LLMs
➡️Shielded Reinforcement Learning
➡️Demystifying Explainable LLMs: Unlocking Insights with Embeddings
➡️Security of Machine Learning Systems
➡️Ethical Aspects in AI Evaluation
➡️Fair Reinforcement Learning
➡️Evaluation (Metrics) for Generative AI

One highlight was a poster and pizza session, where the researchers exchanged ideas on current work in a relaxed atmosphere. Congratulations to Kathrin Lammers and Thorben Markmann for winning the Best Poster Awards! 👏 The event also offered great networking opportunities, which encouraged new cross-institutional collaborations.

A huge thank you to all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this event such a success! 🤝

The next SAIL Spring School will take place at Paderborn University in 2026. Stay tuned for updates!
